Moore observed in 1965 that there was an exponential growth in the number of transistors per integrated circuit and predicted that this trend would continue and it is expected to do so at least until 2010. That’s good news for AGT where we are finding an increasing demand for hydrocarbons in these new applications. Products such as propylene (see our Dec. 04 newsletter), ethylene and propane are all being used in significant quantities for new applications as well as methane and carbon monoxide in existing ones. As a result of this, we’ve decided to add a new Semiconductor Gases section to our products page to give our semi customers additional information about these products. Suggestions for the new pages are welcome and we intend to have it complete by end April 05. Methane Manufactured by the cryogenic distillation of natural gas, methane was the first product ever to be produced at Advanced Gas and the first cylinder was filled by our President, David Wilson in 1995 who was, at the time, our only employee !. Since then our methane has been used in applications as varied as the semiconductor industry through to the manufacture of artifical diamonds ! Since then, AGT has become internationally recognised as one of the world’s premier producers of ultra high purity methane with N5.5 (99.9995%) purities readily available from us in up to tube trailer quantities – something we believe no other manufacturer can match !. Purities up to N6.0 are available to customers who require significant quantities and we also blend tube trailers with methane balance gases as standard for many of our US customers.
